Research

We are at crossroads in time. No single species has had such an influence on biological communities such as ours. Today our planet faces many environmental challenges, and we need to apply ecological and evolutionary knowledge to help maintain and restore ecosystems. The key gap in our understanding of system change is to collect monitoring data. Monitoring biodiversity on vast scales requires new technology. We research the use of environmental DNA for tracking and monitoring species with the goal to improve our understanding how to better manage and restore ecosystems and their functions that are vital to our human society and economy.
